In other news, Jumper was preceded by a trailer for the new Indiana Jones movie. Fingers crossed, knock on wood, it’ll be good. The stupid title, George Lucas, and Shia LaBouf do not give much me faith, and Spielberg has been spotty of late. But we all know that we’ll be there opening day no matter what. Also it’s apparently going to be three hours long.
It’s sort of interesting how a bunch of actor-based franchise movies about tough guys are having these “getting too old for this shit” final episodes: Rocky Balboa, Rambo, the last Die Hard, and now this. Baby boomer death angst perhaps?
Character-based franchise movie are taking a different route, with Hollywood pressing the reset button on James Bond, Batman, the Hulk, and Star Trek. Is Hollywood truly out of ideas? Someone needs to come up with an entirely new awesome action, sci-fi, fantasy, epic, comedy, romance franchise. Writers get on it!

Clearly the solution is “The Continuing Adventures of the Cloverfield Monster”.
